Leslie and Russ' vintage wedding took place in the Rocky Mountains at Boettcher Mansion. The arts and crafts style mansion is an elite mountain wedding venue located in the heart of Lookout Mountain. It was a perfect fit for unique and creative bride and groom and a Beottcher mansion wedding is as good as it get.
This fun and laid back couple gave us a wedding that was candy for a photojournalistic eye. Everything about the day was filled with joy, energy and character. We were able to capture so many stories that represent their personalities.
We love this wedding.

This wedding is filled with so much energy and personality that I don't know if it will be necessary to fill in descriptive words for these story book wedding photographs. The beautifully unique and fun bride and groom pieced their wedding day together with details full of meaning and entertainment. Many people think that your wedding celebration should be one of the best days of your life. For these two, I don't doubt for a second that it was...you can see and feel it in all their photographs. I am so glad that these wedding images are able to vibrantly reflect the joy of this monumental day. I am also so glad that I was able to be a part of it.

Angie and Jeff's vintage and chic mountain wedding took place west of Boulder in a Colorado mountain town, Rollinsville. The wedding venue itself was at a private home but the rest was open, Colorado. There are so many things I love about this wedding that I find myself short of words to accurately describe how creative and beautiful it was.
All bits of their wedding were incredibly unique and every detail was infused with meaning and purpose. This one-of-a-kind wedding introduces a new twist on a modern, DIY, classy, and earthy weddings and as an artistic wedding photographer I couldn't have been in more of a heavenly place. Their creative community came together and knitted all the details to enhance our natural and given beauty.
Typically when choosing images to post on my blog I quickly skim through the 2000 plus photographs we come home with after the wedding. I then pull out 30 images that catch my eye at first glance. My initial "quick pull" with this couples' photographs were near 200. These are the best wedding photographs to compliment a beautiful couple.

Andy | Angela This urban wedding is inching to the top of my list of all time favorite weddings. Andy and Angela's photography themed wedding infused the bride and groom's unique and eclectic Mile High Station reception venue with memories alongside the celebration of new beginnings.
The venue was doused with photographs. From the personalized photograph place cards to the cup cake wrappers to the smile quotes along the walls. Every piece of the wedding was as personal and unique as the bride and groom.
We love these images and are so glad Andy and Angela found us.

The couple told me they were having karaoke at the reception and though I thought it was a great idea I admit I was skeptical as to the amount of participation that would occur. I was immediately shown that this group of friends were seasoned and highly entertaining karaoke hobbyists.
Start playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody in your head as you view my boy in the plaid shirt in these next few images. It's moments like this that I wish I was a videographer.
There are two reasons I couldn't help but put together a slideshow of this couple's mile high station wedding.
1. There are a plethora of outstanding wedding photographs.
2. (and mainly 2) The couple played 99 red balloons at their reception. I've been dying to find a reason to put that song to some images.

"We might not be as cool as the guys you see on the internet," says Hunter Neiblum, "but while you were watching them last night we ate all your cereal." Then immediately after doing a backflip off the Commons Park wall leaving nearby pedestrians in amazement at these characters in grey cut-off sweat pants, his friend John Reynolds corrects him, "No. We are the guys you see on the internet." While John prepares his next stunt Hunter adds, "and your strawberry ice cream; we ate all your strawberry ice cream too." Though they may be easily branded at first glance as hoodlums who lack summer employment, after further observation it is not difficult to see that these boys bear no spray cans or skateboards, but they only use what is most important: their bodies. They are practicing what is known globally as "Parkour", a French term originally meaning, "the art of movement." Parkour, however, is much less of an interpretive dance as it sounds, and is better defined as the estranged hybrid of rebel gymnastics, a Jackie Chan highlight reel, and Project Mayhem from "Fight Club" These local Denver traceurs even sound like a band of superheroes: Logan Breitweiser - the ex-skateboarder with a tattoo and a healthy dose of crass about him. Slightly rough around the edges. Hunter Neiblum - the rogue philosopher who naturally speaks of things like fraternity, overcoming obstacles, poetry, and being one with the earth though he swears "Siddhartha Gautama" must be the name of an energy drink (and who, for the record, only jokes about stealing cereal or ice cream). And thirdly, John Reynolds - an all-state track star with a Shackleton determination who will never be as motivated by a coach as he will by the voices in his own head. All three are happy to both show and tell. "Parkour is all about body awareness," says Hunter. "Yeah," adds Logan, "We don't rely on an exterior thing to keep us safe. Like we don't rely on a snowboard that won't break or a skateboard that won't break. We trust our body. If we feel like we can't do something then we don't do it." In between the jumping and the flipping for the Selah photo shoot, these three friends are all too eager to answer questions about what they do and why they do it. Piggy backing on each others' comments and finishing each others' ideas with Jurassic 5 like fluidity, it doesn't take long to get a clear picture of the bond between them and the way teamwork plays such a big role in what they do. Literally after every jump or flip, there are two constructive feedback coming from the cohorts. Reynolds notes, "The friendliness of the community is what makes it so easy to get better." Hunter adds, "We all train together. Even people across the world. We exceed each others' levels and teach each other how to exceed that level. Then we just learn and grow off each other." In most cases when young people join forces and decide to be a team or gang, they give themselves a semi-threatening or dangerous sounding group name so as to give an impression of how tough they are to any potential opposition. This is where our Denver freerunners really surprise your assigned correspondent. When asked if their posse has a name, they are not quick to answer "Bloods" or "Satan's Flipped-out Henchmen", but rather "Denver Family", followed by a chest-banging gorilla-like pronunciation from Hunter of, "We are Denver Family." With no apology, these toned and tattooed athletes proudly call themselves by a name that sounds fit for a youth group and live to back it up. When asked if he bonds more profoundly with fellow Parkour comrades, John Reynolds says, "Definitely, no comparison; especially with my closest buds, there definitely is a reason we call ourselves 'a family'. People who are passionate about Parkour or movement in general tend to have a pretty consistent outlook amongst each other. When you share the same passion and outlook it's hard not to bond like a family." Giving each other only compliments, and even occasional hugs (Hunter's signature 'fly through the air landing with a hug' move), we watched three of the Denver Family in their element during the course of two hours. According the these Parkour practitioners, a sponsored Parkour event is less of a competition and more of an exhibition. John Reynolds has "competed" in Boston and is soon to attend an event Brazil in upcoming weeks, though he says it's really no different than being in the park with his friends because Parkour is just fundamental, organic movement that is still uncontaminated and non commercialized. Though it has its occasional arguments about rank or nomenclature, as Logan points out, "Anyone that's really good just doesn't care. You're just you. That's how that shit works." I really enjoyed photographing this precious baby. His brightness, personality and joy radiates throughout these images. It took only minutes for me to recognize how greatly he is loved by his parents. It seemed as if every piece of him was delighted in.

David | Lisa This lovely couple exchanged vows in a suburb of Chicago last weekend. David is a friend from college and has been one of the most faithful attendees of his friends' weddings across the United States. I wasn't surprised to see all his friends travel from great distances to be in support of David and Lisa for their classy and personalized wedding.
We were able to capture some wonderful, journalistic moments during their wedding day. Upon first glance at the images I was struck by the beauty of these black and white couple portraits. There is a captivating beauty within the bride and groom's connection.
This is the first time David and Lisa saw each other. David was so excited to see her...and so glad her dress wasn't filled with tulle.
During these images David and Lisa were explaining the way they met each other and fell in love. The two are teachers at a small Lutheran school. David claims that he knew she was the one upon first glance.
This is Chris and Steph. They were one of the first couples that I photographed at their New York wedding...and as in love as ever.
This is Paul. He is the organist with hands made of gold. Prior to this fortuitous catch he told me that this was one of the last weddings within their friend group for some time and everyone was sad about it. If there is any truth to the catching the garter myth, there will be another wedding right around the corner. . . Paul?

Keystone resorts hosted the destination mountain wedding of Aaron and Rachel on a Sunday afternoon in July. The gondola took us to the top of Keystone near one of my favorite runs. The mountain destination wedding venue brought everyone away and together to be present for this beautiful ceremony.
There was a great deal of planning and personalization that went into this celebration, from the kickball game to the football riverly to the best slide show I have ever seen (it made me feel like I had known the couple for years).
I walked away from that wedding thinking, "Those two are really loved." The intimate destination provided an environment for the guests to just be. Aaron and Rachel shared so much of themselves in this celebration and everyone took part in it.
As a wedding photographer, it can be easy to get jaded after going to so many weddings. It's celebrations like these that help remind me that weddings are so important. Thanks for letting us be a part of yours.

SELAH (say - la) a Hebrew word found in the Bible meaning to pause, listen and take things in. It's purpose is similar to that of Amen in (Hebrew: "so be it") in that it stresses the truth and importance of the preceding passage. Alternatively, Selah may mean "forever," as it does in some places in the liturgy.
