And lots of meaning
The couple wed at St. John's Lutheran Church followed by photographs at Wash Park. The wedding was personalized with unique characteristics and family tradition. These storybook wedding images are full of emotion and meaning. I am so thankful that I was able to be a part of this day with you all.
I have the privilege of photographing this family a couple times a year. It is so fascinating to watch their development. The twins have matured greatly. As I was taking their photographs, Micah politely said, "Jackie, now about how many photos will we be taking?" After some negotiation, we agreed on five. My five is a lot more than their five. Every time we did a set we would count it as one. It didn't take many tricks to get them out of there "cheeeesssee" and document their joyful interaction and wonderful playful youth.
Miss Abi knows what she wants and won't settle for lagging behind her older brothers. She didn't care to sit down and smile, but when we got her playing and running around, Abi's simple joy and laughter was contagiously spilling out. As a kids photographer, photographing these kids is such a delight.
I love this family.

Angela | Quentin
The north-central part of Nebraska hosted the celebration of this delightful couple a few weeks ago. Angela, a self-proclaimed "cat lady without any cats" was caught by Quentin's charm and "wit." Angela have known each other for many years; there is nothing quite as special as being able to help dear friends remember one of the most significant days of their lives. Their personalities and story shine through these images. Though, I was slightly surprised and disappointed that Angela's dress didn't resemble a basketball uniform.
Black bridesmaid dresses. Pink ties. Princess-like wedding dress and a birdcage veil. A candy bar and chandelier to decorate the event. Weddings are a big deal in small-town Nebraska--The day was full and rich. I'm so glad I was able to be there.
Right after Angela and Quentin saw each other for the first time Angela said, "Are you scared?"
Angela is known to make a joke here and there. After taking photos everyone was asking where she went. Angela replied by saying, "Oh, the dump." No one believed her...but we did find some lovely spots to photograph at the dump.
This is right after I made a joke. Quentin suggested that I don't use that joke again. But it was obviously pretty funny.
Micah
Here returns another set of lifestyle photographs of Micah, Mr. Personality. He is now two (or as he says, four) and is full of independence and laughter. He's talking as much as he's walking and has a vibrant and contagious joy to him. I love this little boy so much.
This is Micahs "no" face
I have had the privilege of watching Micah grow. Below are a couple of images from two of his last photo shoots. These touch the beginnings of his smiling, walking and talking - the momentous steps that only a picture can clearly recall.

Jamie | Dustin
With a reception so packed, guests had to crawl under the tables to get out of their seats. This wedding celebration was the epitome of a party and everyone was welcome.
There is no country-themed wedding that could really pull off something like this unless you are actually in small-town America. Twenty people stand up for the bride and groom; the wedding dance opens up to the whole town; you breathe the naturally conditioned air; there's fear of the building collapsing upon jumping on the dance floor; but above all there's the feeling that nothing in the wedding matters as much as your neighbors, the people you have known your whole life.
This wedding was nothing short of a genuine celebration. We are so glad to have been there to capture it.
"Why do we need to try on our tuxes before the wedding?" Ask this groomsman.
One of the guests asked me if I thought it would be appropriate to crawl out from under the table to get out of their seat quicker. I told her it would be appropriate. I agreed that I wouldn't take any photos of her climbing out... I am always lying when I promise not to take any pictures. Though I would never tell anyone it was you, Jess.
Scott | Jessie
Jessie and Scott celebrated their intimate wedding at Denver's Washington Park last weekend on a warm Friday afternoon. The ceremony was simple, elegant and full of meaning for the family of this Denver couple.
Jonathan
Experiencing his second week of life, I was so honored to be a part of documenting this newborn's story. I followed him around his home to capture all of the little big moments that make parenthood so special. From his spit-ups to his yawns to his flailing hands...to the joy and anticipation where words aren't quite big enough. As a newborn photographer I want nothing more than to document all the beautiful details of living. These lifestyle photographs document the little pieces that mean so much in a child's life.
I was tempted to go through and put comments on many of the images. I'm not sure words are suited for these newborn portraits. The photographs are some of the best; I'm in love.
The image above is my favorite. Mr. Personality is totally aware of what is going on.
Bo | Hannah
The moment of great anticipation for this couple culminated on June 5th as the bride and groom committed their lives to each other. This simple wedding highlighted the purpose and beauty of marriage. Yellow bridesmaid dresses, red roses, Denver's Priscilla of Boston's finest veil and dress came together with a captivating love that celebrated Bo and Hannah's union last week at a Denver Church wedding.
We are so glad that we could document this for you.
Erik | Ashley
Ashley, Erik and I met downtown Denver last weekend for their candid engagement shoot. Their personality and connection shine through these story telling images.
The wedding is coming up soon. Stay tuned for a preview of that.
I sit here this morning posting the engagement photographs of this beautiful couple and find myself overwhelmed with thankfulness. I am thankful I get to document moments of significance. Relationship is an incredible thing, and though it is everywhere and sometimes appears to be so normal, today especially I am reminded of its greatness.
Geoff and Emily have been together for approximately six years. These images document so much - the way she smiles only at him, the special grasp of hands that only they share. These little details build a lifelong promise that for better or worse, a commitment to be will remain intact for the rest of time.
Relationship is a beautiful gift. Thank you for letting me be a part of capturing and learning from yours.
Chris | Abby
I have known Abby for the past couple of years. I remember her telling me about Chris and a long conversation they had during their first few weeks of knowing each other. She told me how he was listening to her and caring about who she really was. I recall responding with this: "You will find a guy like that...keep waiting for someone 'like that' who really cares about your heart." Not long after the conversation in the driveway, trips to the driving range, alpine slide races and nights of dancing, a surprise birthday party brought home a blue diamond ring on Abby's left hand.
These candid engagement images are full of personality, connection, energy and love. These artistic and unique engagement photographs are the type of images I strive to capture as a couple's photographer. I am so thankful to be a part of this with you both.
These images are taken at the Denver Art District on Sante Fe during a first Friday.
Sweet Action Ice Cream is one of the first spots Chris and Abby went on a date.
Chris wanted to show off his back-bend kick-over. Though this is a move he hasn't done before, his athleticism shines in any situation.
This little pocket of light near the Museum of Contemporary Art is consistently one of my favorite spots to photograph couples.
"How did they get across the water?" one may wonder.
Chris gets props for this location. The shape and lines are breathtaking.
Ashlie | Cody
Ashlie and Cody exchanged vows in St. Joseph, Missouri, last weekend. The couple met a year prior at the camp that hosted their beautiful wedding. The small and intimate celebration was full of such joy. Ashlie has been a friend since elementary school and I was so thankful to be a part of this day with her. Out of the twenty something years we have known each other, I have never seen such a glow in her eyes.
Despite the rain and a bridesmaid's car breaking down on the way to the wedding, there wasn't a thing that could ruin this day.
The couple had a cake reception featuring some delightfully unique cakes: fun-fetti, strawberry-banana, mint chip and more.
The ISPWP hosts a quarterly photography contest where many of the best photographers around the world submit their wedding portraits for review. The contest results feature a categorized portfolio that leaves me in awe upon review of the selection. Almost every image in the top 20 highlights a new perspective in a way that we as photographers can view things. This group always encourages me to see more.
The gallery highlights unique and foreign weddings with images from the most talented photographers in the field. I was so thankful that two of my images were selected as award winners in the Wedding Party and Pure Art categories. It is such an honor to have work posted amongst this elite group of professional wedding photographers.
Take some time and review the contest results. These collection images are delightful.
Pure Art Category is a collection of photographs that makes a statement while documenting an artful, timeless and one of a kind photograph.
Bridal Party Portrait Category featuring unique and stylized imagery that highlights an array of personalities and storybook wedding photographs.
Scott | Jessie
I've never been much for photographing dogs, but after Scott and Jessie's engagement session I discovered my soft spot for interesting animals. The dogs were only a small part of the love story I was privileged to document in this Colorado engagement featuring the beautiful connection of this couple.
Their small and intimate wedding will take place in a few weeks at Wash Park. Check back soon for their story.
Adam, Katharine and I met for their Denver engagement session last week at Confluence Park near Flagstaff, REI. The Colorado location serves as a backdrop for diverse couples looking for a little bit of everything in their photographs. This classy couple will be exchanging vows at Beaver Creek in September. Be sure to check back at Selah's photography blog for their wedding portraits.
Jill | Chris
It's engagement sessions like this that make me appreciate life so much. Jill, Chris and I met at Confluence Park on Saturday morning to capture some meaningful photographs one week prior to Chris's deployment to Afghanistan. I could feel time not sit still enough as the two held each other and flourished in the presence of their relationship.
I am so thankful to have been able to document these last bits of quality time the couple has together for a while. I am also fililed with thankfulness for the great sacrifice men like Chris give to serve our county. I hope nothing but the best for you both.
The painter in me is deeply drawn to these blurry, abstract and unpredictable images taken with 120 film and my holga camera. Let the exploration continue.
