Zoo Wedding

Louise | Jordan

Of all the different venues I have photographed, I have to say the zoo will likely always top my "most unique" list. Every image I place on Selah's wedding photography blog receives a text tag describing the image. This may be the only time in my life that I get to tag "bride and groom looking at seal" and "wedding party watching lions." Jordan and Louise's wedding held at the Denver Zoo encompassed the entire zoo experience including mini hot dogs, a lion show, cotton candy, and private zoo tours. This truly was an entertaining event between an incredibly close group of friends and family. We are so glad that we could be a part of it.

Leslie and Russ' vintage wedding took place in the Rocky Mountains at Boettcher Mansion. The arts and crafts style mansion is an elite mountain wedding venue located in the heart of Lookout Mountain. It was a perfect fit for unique and creative bride and groom and a Beottcher mansion wedding is as good as it get.

This fun and laid back couple gave us a wedding that was candy for a photojournalistic eye. Everything about the day was filled with joy, energy and character. We were able to capture so many stories that represent their personalities.

We love this wedding.

Chris | Abby

This wedding is filled with so much energy and personality that I don't know if it will be necessary to fill in descriptive words for these story book wedding photographs. The beautifully unique and fun bride and groom pieced their wedding day together with details full of meaning and entertainment. Many people think that your wedding celebration should be one of the best days of your life. For these two, I don't doubt for a second that it was...you can see and feel it in all their photographs. I am so glad that these wedding images are able to vibrantly reflect the joy of this monumental day. I am also so glad that I was able to be a part of it.

Mountain wedding Colorado photographer

Angie and Jeff's vintage and chic mountain wedding took place west of Boulder in a Colorado mountain town, Rollinsville. The wedding venue itself was at a private home but the rest was open, Colorado. There are so many things I love about this wedding that I find myself short of words to accurately describe how creative and beautiful it was.

All bits of their wedding were incredibly unique and every detail was infused with meaning and purpose. This one-of-a-kind wedding introduces a new twist on a modern, DIY, classy, and earthy weddings and as an artistic wedding photographer I couldn't have been in more of a heavenly place. Their creative community came together and knitted all the details to enhance our natural and given beauty.

Typically when choosing images to post on my blog I quickly skim through the 2000 plus photographs we come home with after the wedding. I then pull out 30 images that catch my eye at first glance. My initial "quick pull" with this couples' photographs were near 200. These are the best wedding photographs to compliment a beautiful couple.

Introducing my biggest photography blog posting ever...with images so lovely I wish they were of myself.

Andy | Angela This urban wedding is inching to the top of my list of all time favorite weddings. Andy and Angela's photography themed wedding infused the bride and groom's unique and eclectic Mile High Station reception venue with memories alongside the celebration of new beginnings.

The venue was doused with photographs. From the personalized photograph place cards to the cup cake wrappers to the smile quotes along the walls. Every piece of the wedding was as personal and unique as the bride and groom.

We love these images and are so glad Andy and Angela found us.

The couple told me they were having karaoke at the reception and though I thought it was a great idea I admit I was skeptical as to the amount of participation that would occur. I was immediately shown that this group of friends were seasoned and highly entertaining karaoke hobbyists.

Start playing Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody in your head as you view my boy in the plaid shirt in these next few images. It's moments like this that I wish I was a videographer.

There are two reasons I couldn't help but put together a slideshow of this couple's mile high station wedding.

1. There are a plethora of outstanding wedding photographs.

2. (and mainly 2) The couple played 99 red balloons at their reception. I've been dying to find a reason to put that song to some images.

Enjoy.

David | Lisa This lovely couple exchanged vows in a suburb of Chicago last weekend. David is a friend from college and has been one of the most faithful attendees of his friends' weddings across the United States. I wasn't surprised to see all his friends travel from great distances to be in support of David and Lisa for their classy and personalized wedding.

We were able to capture some wonderful, journalistic moments during their wedding day. Upon first glance at the images I was struck by the beauty of these black and white couple portraits. There is a captivating beauty within the bride and groom's connection.

This is the first time David and Lisa saw each other. David was so excited to see her...and so glad her dress wasn't filled with tulle.

Wedding at Keystone Resort

Aaron | Rachel

Keystone resorts hosted the destination mountain wedding of Aaron and Rachel on a Sunday afternoon in July. The gondola took us to the top of Keystone near one of my favorite runs. The mountain destination wedding venue brought everyone away and together to be present for this beautiful ceremony.

There was a great deal of planning and personalization that went into this celebration, from the kickball game to the football riverly to the best slide show I have ever seen (it made me feel like I had known the couple for years).

I walked away from that wedding thinking, "Those two are really loved." The intimate destination provided an environment for the guests to just be. Aaron and Rachel shared so much of themselves in this celebration and everyone took part in it.

As a wedding photographer, it can be easy to get jaded after going to so many weddings. It's celebrations like these that help remind me that weddings are so important. Thanks for letting us be a part of yours.

Angela | Quentin The north-central part of Nebraska hosted the celebration of this delightful couple a few weeks ago. Angela, a self-proclaimed "cat lady without any cats" was caught by Quentin's charm and "wit." Angela have known each other for many years; there is nothing quite as special as being able to help dear friends remember one of the most significant days of their lives. Their personalities and story shine through these images. Though, I was slightly surprised and disappointed that Angela's dress didn't resemble a basketball uniform.

Black bridesmaid dresses. Pink ties. Princess-like wedding dress and a birdcage veil. A candy bar and chandelier to decorate the event. Weddings are a big deal in small-town Nebraska--The day was full and rich. I'm so glad I was able to be there.

country small town wedding | dustin . jamie

Jamie | Dustin With a reception so packed, guests had to crawl under the tables to get out of their seats. This wedding celebration was the epitome of a party and everyone was welcome.

There is no country-themed wedding that could really pull off something like this unless you are actually in small-town America. Twenty people stand up for the bride and groom; the wedding dance opens up to the whole town; you breathe the naturally conditioned air; there's fear of the building collapsing upon jumping on the dance floor; but above all there's the feeling that nothing in the wedding matters as much as your neighbors, the people you have known your whole life.

This wedding was nothing short of a genuine celebration. We are so glad to have been there to capture it.

Bo | Hannah The moment of great anticipation for this couple culminated on June 5th as the bride and groom committed their lives to each other. outdoor wedding . ashlie | cody

Ashlie | Cody Ashlie and Cody exchanged vows in St. Joseph, Missouri, last weekend. The couple met a year prior at the camp that hosted their beautiful wedding. The small and intimate celebration was full of such joy. Ashlie has been a friend since elementary school and I was so thankful to be a part of this day with her. Out of the twenty something years we have known each other, I have never seen such a glow in her eyes.

Despite the rain and a bridesmaid's car breaking down on the way to the wedding, there wasn't a thing that could ruin this day.

orange and cherry blossom wedding

Barry#86 | Danae#22 This wedding showed me that no matter how many times I photograph the same location, there are no two weddings that are the same. This is the fourth time I have photographed a wedding ceremony in the lovely town of Seward. I was concerned that I would begin to give repetitive imagery. As I resist doing the same things twice, I keep finding spots more unique every time.

I present to you a preview of unique wedding images taken at this orange wedding in Seward, Nebraska. This couple invited 900 people to the wedding. Thankfully, their final attendance was around 500 and there was enough food and seats for all their guests. The temperature was a record high for the 9th of April—86 degrees. The warmth brought the peak of newness as green colors and blossoms arrived for the couple's union. The symbolism was divinely appropriate.

photojournalistic fine art wedding | denver

Scott | Teagan

Photojournalistic, fine art, poetic and full of feeling.

Upon finishing this set of artistic, storytelling wedding images, I found myself pushing my chair back, smiling in delight and in my office clapping by myself. I am so pleased to present these frozen moments that successfully tell a story which is saturated with feeling and meaning—pictures that transfer the joy and prove life's goodness.

Our favorite things about this wedding?

-Rachel, the beautiful maid of honor who doubles as Selah's favorite graphic designer on staff. She and Teagan made the little details of the day including the cloth flowers and hair pieces.

-The reception took place in the Rococo Theater downtown Lincoln. The historic theater houses elegance, class and history. This was one of the most unique and personal receptions I have witnessed. From the personalized songs for the wedding party to the survivor game to the video grams, this celebration was about the happy couple and everyone who has been a part of their journey.

- The sparrow theme—traced across the women's jewelry—was taken from Matthew 10:29-31: "Not even a sparrow, worth only half a penny, can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to Him than a whole flock of sparrows."

-Books served as centerpieces and other details, which provided insight into the couple's interests, and it also served as a great backdrop for the photographs.

-Ruby Begonia's—Whintey's favorite vintage store—was around the corner from the reception venue. I am thankful that the wedding wasn't earlier in the day, otherwise Whitney's diner break would have taken place at Ruby's.

-Ruben—the Tex Mex groomsman who will always love us and NEVER returns phone calls.

Scott and Teagan's wedding day was truly a celebration of a love story. We are so thankful to have been a part of this experience with you both.
